HDD storage

HDD storage stands for Hard Disk Drive. HDDs are non-volatile long term storage for data. Hard drives use magnetism to store data, they are divided into billions of tiny sections that are either magnetized or demagnetized to represent binary data. Hard drives swing a read/write head over a magnetized platter to read/write data, the head is powered by a voice coil, and the platter spins as the head moves. Most modern hard drives have an RPM of 5400 or 7200, higher RPM usually means better performance because the platters spin faster.
